I just spoke with the clerk of the court in the Eastern District of Texas.  I asked if there was a deadline (in the rules) for a judge to respond to a motion.  I was told there was not.  It is up to the judge to decide when to file an order.   Looking back over the last few pacers, it would appear that Judge Ward has a quick turn around time.  However, it could be that the motions referenced below, did not take long to review.

Sep 24 - motion for leave to amend

Sep 25 - order -grant motion for leave to amend 

Oct 5 - motion to expedite

Oct 11 - order agreed - motion to expedite
