Could not agree more with your sentiment. Very well stated.
One other reason I've changed my mind in the sp potential of PTSC is the fact that the current litigation, imo, should be settled by now if it were for 'chump change'. I've seen figures thrown out on the board of 50MM to 80MM dollars for each of the defendants. At first, this sounded pretty good, but I now feel that these figures are too low.
I realize that we have received paltry settlements of late, but this I believe is due to negotiations with those particular companies were initiated quite some time ago. Companies just don't pick up the phone overnight and ask for a license to use the IP for x amount. I believe these companies notified PTSC in good faith soon after receiving their notification of possible infringement and began their negotiations. Plus, their products probably didn't impact the MMP to a great extent anyway.
From MEI earnings report:
----Regarding earnings, operating profit(1) for this fiscal year was up 11%, to 459.5 billion yen ($3.89 billion US), from 414.3 billion yen in the previous year. -----
Now I know some will say that settlement figures are based on infringing products and not the whole of the company's net sales or earnings. I totally agree. But, come on...what is $50MM compared to the figures above. 'A drop in the bucket'. And we're talking a one time fee to license the IP. (They may have to lay off one of their big boys for one year to make up the cost)
I think PTSC is asking for some serious $$$$. JMO
