Philips purchases MMP Portfolio license from Patriot Scientific

Patriot Scientific (OTCBB:PTSC), an intellectual-property licensing company, announced on Monday (29 October) that Royal Philips Electronics, a medical equipment and consumer electronics company, has purchased a Moore Microprocessor Patent (MMP) Portfolio license.

The Moore Microprocessor Patent (MMP) Portfolio contains intellectual property that is jointly owned by the TPL Group and Patriot Scientific Corporation. The portfolio includes seven US patents as well as their European and Japanese counterparts. These patents reportedly protect fundamental technology used in designing microprocessors, microcontrollers, digital signal processors (DSPs), embedded processors and system-on-chip (SoC) devices.

The company said that Philips becomes the 23rd MMP licensee, and the third major European company to purchase a license after Schneider Electric and Nokia Corporation.

Financial details of the license purchase were not available.
