You asked:
What exactly is being pushed back 30 days?
Discovery deadlines which were posted earlier that pushed a deadline from Oct 29 to Oct 30? The ACP motion? Something else?
to which I replied
A motion to stay suspends the case for the time requested. It is unusual not to have supporting grounds included within the motion.
Why ask the questions?
You mean to tell me a motion to stay is actually a request by a certain party, in this case both parties, to have the court suspend a case for a specified amount of time? Golly Gee...thank you so much.
Uhhh, I think I knew that, I think....lol
I didn't expand on your thoughts
Please let me know if the following makes sense:
Maybe there is still a lot of discovery that we would want to complete before stepping into the next phase of litigation and this benefited the defense's interest and we filed a joint motion to postpone deadlines.
I am trying to get my head around how this motion to extend 30 days, but does not move the trial date, is an indication to many that a settlement is inevitable.
because there were no supporting grounds given. However, a court will not grant a stay if in so doing it favors one party over the other.
Please be more specific with your questions so that I might know how better to respond(lol).
I have NEVER practised law, but have studied it up to and including doctoral level.
