I have no idea what is considered too many posts for one board, but earlier today I tallied a 24 hour period for the PTSC board and came up with 390 posts. Seems a bit much. I believe the request for an ignore button is an attempt to deal with the growing volume of posts here. Since PTSC has tremendous potential, there is potential for similar growth here on this board as well. IMO It has become a chore to learn about this company because very few of the posts actually deal directly with the company. It is not any one thing or individual, just the shear weight of all the well-intentioned, good-natured posts that add nothing to the knowledge base. If a poster is cheerleading, or thanking others or adding some humor or just socializing, it is difficult to ask that person to stop, because we do need a certain amount of those. (All work and no play). I'm not advocating any particular fix, just alerting Agora to what I see as a problem that is quickly getting out of hand, at least on this borad.
Is there any possiblity of finding out how this board compares to others? Total avg posts per day? Total number of posters per day? Average number of posts for all members? How far do some members deviate from the avg and mean? Perhaps you already collect this kind of data. Thank you for your attention. Opty
