he new electrodes will use carbon nanotubes for improved performance and longevity, thereby reducing overall costs for fuel-cell operations. Cleveland-based HydroGen is contributing $131,545 to the project.

Carbon nanotubes are large molecules of pure carbon that are long and thin and shaped like tubes. The nanotubes are 100 times stronger than steel and one-sixth its weight. Nanotubes can be extremely efficient electricity and heat conductors, and some act as semiconductors.
