Everyone who knows me knows I am long, know this stock about as well as anyone, and am an attorney.
I think the odds are that, given the 30-day stay, a settlement is in the works. However, I am less certain that is what the cancellations are the result of a settlement. I hope I am wrong.
Let's assume there is a settlement or some other very positive news. Why have the CEO cancel a regular webcast or presentation? What is the downside of moving forward, talking about all the normal things a CEO would talk about, and keeping a high confident profile in public? When questioned about the unusual 30-day stay and Texas case, Turley could easily and properly answer, "I am not in a position to discuss the legal aspects of the case, but we are very confident that the Markman ruling demonstrates the strength of our legal position," or words to that effect.
Cancelling only triggers uncertainty, and cancelling is not necessary just because a legal case has settled in Texas, regardless of its size.
So . . . why cancel? I don’t necessarily SEE the direct connection.
Let's hope for some big good news next week.
