May be in play here. Here's what I'm thinking:

Say you are one of the Js, and you've hired these high-priced lawyers to defend you - or to get the best deal possible. If your lawyers, or you (thinking of shareholders), settle one second before you have to, did you/your lawyers do the best job possible/fight to the death?

I'm just thinking that if I were one of the Js, and my lawyers said "done deal" at any time prior to the end of available time, I'd think they didn't give it their best effort. And even if I as one of the Js didn't have this attitude, perhaps the lawyers THINK I might feel this way.
