Message: milestone - another interesting PR observation

I'm sure you're correct. The difference in PTSC count vs. TPL/Alliacense count of 2 licenses is AMD & Intel. It just seems odd to me that as partners, these two companies wouldn't compromise on a way of putting this information in PR's so that they are saying the same thing about the same thing.

It creates a bit of confusion as if you looked at PTSC's PR on the Lite On It deal, they list them as the 28th licensee. Since then, there has been Alpine & Verigy officially announced making a SURE 30. In the Verigy PR, it lists that there have been "over 30" licenses signed. Now, from that, I can know that means that the settlements include at least ONE license of the J3 as that would make 31, which is over 30. On the otherhand, if I go and look at the TPL/Alliacense PR's I see they had Lite-On-It counted as the 26th license. Adding Alpine & Verigy gets me to 28, so to get OVER 30, all THREE J's of the J3 had to buy licenses.

Again, not the biggest deal in the world, but this is PR, which is supposed to inform and clarify for the public what is going on, not send us on a scavenger hunt to sort out what things might or should mean. PTSC and/or TPL can do a better job at this simply by each using the same conventions to discuss the same issues. They are afterall, PARTNERS on this.
