What I find upsetting with the MM's ability change the SP on a very few shares bought or sold allows the MM's to slowly drop the SP over time and then turn around and cause a false run up, creating a buying spree and turning around slowly dropping the the price again. I guess this is just one of the reasons to get off the otcbb
Remember the MM job is to match and complete orders. If no one is buying then the pps has to go down. Doesnt matter if 100 shares just got traded or 100,000 shares.
Eg. Say for example 100 shareholders have 1 Stock of PTSC they are trying to sell at .45 (bid)
If there is only 5 buyers willing to buy at .46 (ask)... then there is 95 shares oversupply.
Now... there could be a line of new buyers on LIMIT BUYS standing in line at .43.... These are buyers not wiling to pay .46 but want to be in line for when the ask falls to .43 to buy.
The MM can see this....and in order to create trades/markets... the MMs can lower the bid to .41 and ask to .43.... and now all the sudden the supply is being overtaken by demand.
At some point, some sellers will stop selling at the bid at .41 and there might be more buyers than sellers. In order to match orders/trades..... the pps must move up to entice sellers to sell.
Supply and demand.....
