Exuse me, but I do not engage in hyperbole. Let’s let readers decide.
I am speaking (generally) about their entitlement programs and the stifling of innovation, competition, and ability to conduct business. President Sarkozy discussed changing the laws of who an employer can fire, and for what (in France, in many cases, employment is for LIFE). This simple conversation triggered riots in the streets of France. The promises of massive entitlements is bankrupting the country, according to Sarkozy and his minister of finance.
Here are couple links that discuss part of the problem France faces. Germany has essentially the same system.

Google the words Sarkozy, entitlements, reform, and read for yourself. I guess he is trying to reform the country and cut entitlements because they are fiscally GOOD for the country. Right. One of their ministers was on (I believe) Neil Cavuto’s show and said the country is sliding into bankruptcy because of the entitlements. The new president of France has very publicly stated all this, and that the country is going bankrupt if they cannot alter the way the country's entitlements and business are structured.
I conduct a lot of business in Europe (England, France, and Germany), and I discuss these issues with employers (and employees) routinely. So I know of what I speak.
PATENT REFORM: Why did I bring this up? This all goes to the mindset of our own lawmakers, many of whom do not have a clue about how the free market operates—hence the reference to Western SOCIALISM in Europe. I don’t want that here in the USA, and I am worried the Patent Bill pending in Congress might open (another) door in that direction.
Barbara Boxer is a socialist; half the Republicans are, too. Arlen specter (R) is a socialist. Bob Byrd (D), Pat Leahy (D), Chuck Schumer (D), Olympia Snow (R) are all socialists. The word has an easy definition, and their policies support it. President Bush has socialist tendencies (witness his giant Medicare program). How this can be controversial baffles me. What they ask for (government solutions, taking money from Joda to pay to Fatwolit because they think the latter “needs” it more), is immoral and socialism.
They say it. Openly. So do I.
I have an idea! Since a politician’s outlook can in NO WAY have an effect on how he or she votes on the upcoming Patent legislation, let’s flag my post as a violation. After all, we can’t discuss opinion on how a lawmaker’s world view might influence policy, right?
I guess it is too threatening to the socialists among us who don’t like it when the other farm animals notice they are walking upright and wearing clothes, with a number on their head.
