I think Turley was given the chance to "grow" into the job, and it just didn't work for the board, or perhaps for Turley either. In hindsight, the canceled speeches were the red flag things were not going well. IMHO the search for a replacement has been going on for a while, and Pohl agreed to stay on as COB until a replacement was identified for Turley. Once that was nailed down (a couple of weeks ago), he can then resign and clear the stage for today's resignation and appointment.
"Interim" probably means there is an initial "probationary" period for both sides to see how things go. If things go well, Goerner gets the job permanently. All MHO and we'll see. I agree Goerner better fits the profile of a CEO than Turley.
