First, I recommended your post because even though it goes against everything I said, heh heh heh, your theory is definitely worth discussing. My only argument would be, and I could be wrong as this is not my area, is that this would require TPL to perform this coup in over the last 3 months (in between Q's) to go undetected. By my account, 72Million shares have traded in this timeframe. I don't believe your scenario is possible with these #'s. Corrections welcome.
