SOUTH WINDSOR, Conn. (AP) -- Gerber Scientific Inc.'s profit jumped 41 percent in the fiscal third quarter on strong sales to sign and graphics makers, the manufacturing systems maker said Thursday.
Gerber Scientific earned $3.1 million, or 13 cents per share, in the three months ended Jan. 31, compared with profit of $2.2 million, or 10 cents per share, in the fiscal third quarter of last year.
Analysts polled by Thomson Financial forecast, on average, profit of 12 cents per share.
Revenue climbed 11 percent to $152 million from $137.1 million, meeting expectations.
Gerber Scientific makes systems that help manufacturers make things like signs, lenses and packaging.
Chief Executive Marc T. Giles said in a statement that revenue growth was led by the sign-making and specialty-graphics segment.
