We can agree that yes, the duck was stuck (held) and now (Miraculously!) has broken loose. I say miraculously, because Mud over time dries up, the poor duck would otherwise have been have been stuck forever....!

IMO it was time for the duck to be picked up, cleaned off and sent on his way, with maybe a swift kick in the butt to "Goose" him into forward motion - he has a job to do for the newly hired.
