Agreed. However, (details - details) the NDA is typically signed when joining an organization - not when you leave (thereby also covering your time employed). Also, per my recollection, such NDAs are open-ended (no expiration). This especially holds true for Security-type NDAs. They "last" forever. As a matter of fact, per the security regs, employers are required to retain records including your signed NDA for a minimum of 50 years (in addition to what information you were permitted access, etc.).
However, regarding NDAs and financial info (specifically), "freedom" is assumed when the information becomes public. But the NDA never went out of effect IMO. You just wouldn't be hassled about disclosing at that point because the company could not prove harm (the "no harm, no foul" doctrine).
