I've often read here where we keep getting compared to RMBS but remember although they similarly derive a great % of their revenue from licensing they also openly dilvulge in the Q and K that they have ongoing royalties coming from their patent portfolio, along with onetime payments.(and, compared to PTSC, they have 680 patents with 540 morepending)
To institutions and the common investor that info tells them that ongoing revenue is there, at least for the life of their patents. They also market and sell follow-up engineering services of the licensed items, more ongoing revenue. And none of this includes that they also have revenue from their own products.
They have only 100MM shares outstanding and only 90MM in their float....thats only about 25% of PTSC's OS and float numbers.
Their EPS when looked at closely is because their SGA went very high the last 2 years....all due to litigation costs. Take that expense away, which will happen soon and they are back to their normal 25-35Mm Net Profit and .25-.35 EPS.
So we are not a Rambus...not yet anyway and our pricing, although I would like it to be $7-10 ...is not going there... IMO.
What we need to happen is what has been mentioned many times on this board.
Obviously we need the revenue,we need repetitive revenue, we need to do something with that revenue and let the investment world know how close we are to some M&A to get us that consistent revenue flow. We need to get off the BB and we need to get our very high OS reduced....380-400MM shares is way too high to have a consistent climb in the PPS. Add into all of that we need to get the re-exams completed favorably.
Can we be a Rambus in scope and PPS, sure, but just having more licenses announced will not get us the consistent climb to the PPS you were hoping for. Obviously the last 15-17 hasn't gotten us thetre yet either but if we can accomplish those things I've mentioned and/or at least PR many of these items to the public then I see us on our way to a PPS similar to Rambus. And IMO that just isn't going to happen with this one Q, the best the company has ever had, esp. if the accompanying PR from RG doesn't shed a lot of light onto our future revenue flow(royalties), future M&A goals and activites and indication that we are reducing our float by buying back more shares.
