1. Royalties, Royalties, Royalties!
On December 18, 2007 all remaining parties to the litigation announced that a resolution was reached in the patent infringement lawsuits. The terms of the settlement included the grant by TPL of rights under the Moore Microprocessor Patent Portfolio to NEC Electronics America, Toshiba, Matsushita and JVC and their respective subsidiaries in the form of license agreements. The parties have agreed that the details of the settlement are confidential.
"...a resolution was reached..." = Royalties (IMO)
Thats is why the numbers are lower then last quarter because not lump sum buyouts.
That is why the settlement is confidential, no real other explanation.
That is why Asustek and others are willing to take their chances with their own lawsuit, because we are demanding royalties.
2. Still a good quarter
6 million net income in 3 months is not exactly chump change. Keep in mind I dont beleive that considers future royalties from J3.
3. SSDI
We purchased 46% interest in SSDI in feb 07 for $370,000. Since then we received over $2 million in revenue from that investment just in first year. Looks like a pretty good deal to me.
Company is still looking at M&As and still pursuing infringers. So whats the problem.
