Your question has been beaten to death but I think it's worth rehashing because it's the $200 Billion question.
Your summary of where we are is right on spot - at least with all of the cards we currently have turned over or with all the pieces to the puzzle we currently have - pick your analogy.
Here are some reasons why people still have great hope for this stock and think that things with Patriot may be better than they seem - I'm sure other posters can more items to this list:
1. Patriot received a very positive Markman hearing result which helps prove the validity of the patents - why would Patriot settle for next to nothing if they appeared to have the upper hand in the case?
2. Patriot stated that they were extremely pleased with the settlement - which may indicate that we got more than a few pesos reported in the Q. Many believe that stating "we're extremely pleased with the settlement" and then receiving next to nothing could be misleading and a violation of SEC regs.
3. Other defandants of the original J-5 settled for quite a bit of money - relatively speaking.
4. One of the PRs seemed to indicate that there maybe some type of business resolution with the J-3 which could be very profitable to Patriot - in some way.
