"The MMP Portfolio Licensing Program continues its rapid growth, with Humax being the tenth new licensee in just the past month,"
This is a Jim Turley quote from the 1/5/08 PR announcing the Humax license. The only way you can get to 10 licenses is to include the 4 J's in that mix, and therefore, those J licenses would have been part of the "transactions announced prior to the end of January".
Licenses in the month prior to and including 1/5/08
- Humax
- Verigy
- JVC
- Matsushita
- Toshiba
- NEC Electronics Amerca
- Alipine
- Lite On IT
- WMS Gaming
- Daewoo
While I'd love to think there is future money coming from the J's, every sign we get from the company suggests otherwise. Therefore, IMO, the J's settlement may not have benefitted us financially at this stage, the way we all thought, but I sure think from a legal strategerie standpoint, it must have been the sensible thing to do, otherwise we wouldn't have settled. In that regard, I do think it will produce FUTURE money, but IMO, that future money will come from OTHER companies that have to pay higher fees because we didn't risk an adverse jury verdict without validation from USPTO, and without other issues resolved that our legal team felt should be prior to prosecuting a trial.
