I remember it different still...in that PTSC alone sued the J5. Those 20 some companies who filed five declaratory judgment lawsuits included all the J5 subsideraries etc. After joining with TPL we drop suit in CA and TPL files against J4 in TX, leaving out Sony. Everyone wondered why. Company explained that it was for stategic reasons. Later came to our attention that TTC may have represented Sony previously... pointing to a possible conflict for suing but also could be considered good for settlement.
Out of TX... Fugitsu settles on March 1 '06 for $30some mil.
On June 2 '06 Sony settles. Everyone says wow, if Fugitsu gave 30's, Sony must be 50 or more. I don't think I've owned anything made by Fugitsu but numerous things from Sony, so I think most did believe Sony was going to be the big fish. From memory it was $20 mil....far less than expected and most questioned where the strategic reasoning came from. 3-4 months later TPL announces Intelesys chip will go into Sony playstation's removable hard drive.
The only other connection I've seen was Sony announcing it would sell 2 "cell" Fab facilities that were important to producing PS3 to Toshiba. That was on Oct. 18 '07. If that had/has any effect on TPL, I don't know. joe
