I have always suspected that certain posts/posters on forums such as the Agora board do have and can have an affect on the shareprice but I really didn't know to what degree.

The recent episode lends more credence to your 'myth busters' theory. I would also suggest that Market Makers read these message boards as well and contribute to either the exuberance or panic.

In the old days, phone rooms were used. Compare that to today's internet. There are literally thousands of investors reading the boards simultaneously, so the effect is thousands of times greater.

The fact remains, although unadvisable, folks do risk their money based on information posted on message boards.
