Message: The measured demise...questions for a chart watcher:

"How is it possible to estimate the amount an infringer should pay if we don't know the exact amount the infringer infringed? Companies all sell varying amounts of their products and not all of their products infringe. We have to accept that PTL got the proper amount from each according to the amount of infringement. doc"

We might also want to consider that wise companies first go after the top 20% of the customers that will yield 80% of all the revenue. It's the 80/20 rule and it almost always applies: top 20% of customers = 80% of all revenue, bottom 80% of customers = 20% of all revenue. Think about how you'd set the customer priorities if you were in charge.

.

Using the 80/20 rule gives us some interesting results. If the total number of potential customers = 400, then PTSC could see 80% of all potential revenue from just 20% of the 400 potential - just 80 customers would do it. Assuming that they are going after the top 20% first, we might think that they've got about 45 of the top 80 customers already.

But given some of the smaller company names already on the list of licensees perhaps the 80/20 rule doesn't apply here - or not totally.
