Absolutely not true. I can tell you from many rounds of sparring, a one punch or one kick knockout is the sweetest. Why get the crap knocked out of you for 4 rounds if you don't have to.
Look at another way, the Powell Doctrine (as in Gen. Colin), an overwhelming force designed to give the swiftest crushing blow as possible. Also to never enter the fight without sufficient back up in materials and resources and a well thought out back up plan and exit or escape plan.
The good fight is for someone that thinks something other than winning is acceptable. Maybe in childrens sports it is a fine philosophy, but in the market or adult life, secong place is the first loser.
