That was due to the fact that PTSC possessed a microprocessor that actually ran Java... nobody else did (at that time, at least natively) leading up to and thru the Sun/Java dog & pony show of '01 or '02?

I spent an entire afternoon with LG (with a capitol 'L') and Mirkolos (sp) actually sitting at their display table with them bs-ing about PTSC, the chip , how it worked, how it was architecturally superior to RISC, what their plans were at that time etc etc ... they were amazingly open.. bored no doubt.

Nobody licensed the tech... not even Sun... even when the 350 MHz Ignite was introduced a short while later. Something IMO happened b/t Sun & PTSC... PTSC & Ignite should have been Sun's poster boy for Java tech.. Instead, ARM & Geode (?) captured the market and the Ignite is collecting dust... just another reason not to like ARM... I always wondered if the arrangement with Swartz and the money machine he had in place negatively influenced the potential Sun/PTSC relationship..

anyways... jmo
