Back in 2002-3 I believe some of the coders at REAL figured out how to transcode the Apple codec AAC and you could listen to apple's stuff on real audio.

It takes some brilliant minds to understand/reverse engineer this type of programming especially when it's so dynamic - funny they say at one place there's no transcoading and at another it is just dynamic. lol

IMO the money comes in when a carrier/s like it enough to impliment it; and I did find/post that one artical which stated AVOT' has this patented. fwiw
