(IMO) There are a number of pending PTSC happenings that RG did not mention in today’s letter.
Here is a quick list including some of my old and new commentary (IMO) of some stuff that we are awaiting more info that was not touched on in RG’s Shareholder Letter #7 released today:
1) Evaluate a “Textual Analysis and Search Software Company”. Comment (IMO): No new nugget of information about this in today’s Shareholder Letter of 9/23/08. Mentioned as far back as the August Business Overview Presentation, and in Slide 10, 13, 14, & 15 of the September 2008 Business Overview.
2) Further updates on IP expansion. RG stated in last SH letter, “We have held preliminary discussions with the developers of advanced networking IP technology for Digital Subscriber Line (DSL) applications." Comment (IMO): No new nugget of information about this in today’s Shareholder Letter of 9/23/08.
3) Iameter Acquisition. Comment (IMO): Listed on circle Plots on Page 15 & 16 of September 2008 Pres (why he actually calls it by name is odd), but no text anywhere about it. Somewhat inconsistently, it is not listed Slide 14, it just says under evaluation. Comment (IMO): No new nugget of information about this in today’s Shareholder Letter of 9/23/08.
4) ARS update. Details: Deutsche Bank reached a deal with regulators on 8/22/08 --- they agreed to buy back around 1 Billion on 8/22/08. Comment (IMO): Probably not a good subject to field certainly considering the events on Wall Street in the last week or two. Still, does PTSC have any better visibility about their own ARS? Maybe by Annual SH meeting – you can be sure a question will be asked about that, eh.
5) Hiring of an additional marketing and business development person.
Comment (IMO): I know, probably not a big ticket item, but its one thing previously mentioned----Sure is overdue. Search has been going on at least 2+ months.
6) Announce details about planned conferences RG will attend and present to through the end of the year. RG stated, “Ibis is coordinating subsequent meetings through year-end, including several industry conferences. These venues represent an opportunity to outline the strength of the Patriot transition story. We will have more information on these conferences as details become available.” Comment (IMO): No new nugget of information about this in today’s Shareholder Letter of 9/23/08. Hey, we are almost at October 1, anything on your schedule yet, RG?
7) Update the Website to reflect new direction (as well as licensing). Comment (IMO): I think we can all agree that a company’s website is one of the first places you look to for info or to do due diligence about a company yes,… even before a message forum) – PTSC needs to rapidly evolve and update their website to more accurately fully reflect the company’s products and direction. Currently, there is too much text about the MMP portfolio and our transition to licensing and little else about our new avenues of growth. Except for the company Power Point Presentation, located at http://patriotscientific.com, then go to Investors menu option, then on right side there is a link) to indicate its other areas of expansion. I hope this can get done prior to the October30, 2008 Annual SH meeting.
Note: Today, 3 business days after I sent IR the email, I received an IR response on the misspelling of” Sharholder” and misnaming of “West Crave” Ballroom for meeting room at the Hilton Hotel for the SH meeting (should be Wave Crest). They are forwarding the info to their IT department.
Lastly, IMO, you can potentially view the omission of these non items as encouraging. 1 year ago, I don’t know if the Patriot CEO could fill one page in a Shareholder letter with detail about PTSC activities (I am exaggerating, but you get the picture). Now, the current CEO is onto multiple pages and potentially has to elect to not include some material to avoid extreme lengthiness (or perhaps because nothing new on some). In other words, there is a lot going on even beyond what is in this Letter.
