Even if, and I highly doubt this, the USPTO would decide different from the German Patent Office one should not forget that the german market is not just a small one.
There are a lot of infringers who have to pay a lot of money at least in Germany so far.
To me it is simply a matter of time not if but when the USPTO will follow the German decision.
In a German board the argument that the US office is behind due to the fact that they just have to meet any silly objection of the opposing party seems logical.
The international patent law does not differ in Germany and the United States.
Cheers!
