Swartz sold approx 17M shares in 2008. There are approximately 252 trading days in a year. So on average, Swartz sold about 67,460 shares per day. or just under 10% of the average daily volume of 719K shares per day. Intuitively, that seems to be enough to effect downward pressure on the pps, though I'm no market dynamics analyzer.
As of Jan 1, 2009, he had about 6.8M share left. At current prices, it would cost PTSC less than $700K to buy all of his remaining shares and thus eliminate him as a potential seller. Whether that's the best use of $700K, it's difficult to say these days, but certainly, the 90% drop in value from a 52 week high of 94 cents, to under 10 cents reflects that his selling is part of the problem. I can't see ho eliminating him wouldn't help.
