Taken one at a time I'd say PTSC's pieces will do no better then the average companies in these fields, except for the first one - MMP licensing.
The second one, Phoenix Digital, is only the recorder of revenue.
Holocom might surprise us but I'd guess just breaking even would be welcome this year. Ditto for Talis Data Systems, Crossflo Systems, Avot Media, and Verras Medical dba Iameter.
So IMO the MMP is still our best hope in 2009.
Below was copied from PTSC's web page:
Current cash generation is predominantly licensing revenues from Patriot's Moore Microprocessor Patent™ Portfolio which contains intellectual property that is jointly owned with privately held The TPL Group. The MMP™ Portfolio includes seven U.S. patents as well as their European and Japanese counterparts. It is widely recognized that the MMP™ Portfolio protects fundamental technology used in microprocessors, microcontrollers, digital signal processors (DSPs), embedded processors and system-on-chip (SoC) devices.
Patriot currently holds a 50% joint ownership in Phoenix Digital Solutions, LLC, the entity that records the license revenues for the MMP Portfolio.
Patriot owns 46% of Holocom Networks, a company making security enclosures for secure networking applications, primarily to military, government agency and defense contractors.
Patriot owns greater than 37% in Talis Data Systems, LLC, a San Diego company that produces multi-domain computer and network security products to government, military and enterprise customers.
Patriot closed its first acquisition on September 1, 2008. The Company acquired Crossflo Systems, Inc., a San Diego, California private software and services company noted for its innovative data-sharing solutions, for stock and cash totaling $10 million. Crossflo is building a base of clients in justice and public safety, homeland security and public healthcare that have a critical need for secure, selective, scalable and nondisruptive data-sharing.
On September 8, 2008 Patriot announced it had acquired nearly 20 percent of Avot Media, a Sunnyvale, CA, private software innovator in near real-time streaming and video delivery to mobile devices with a high-quality image.
On December 1, 2008 Crossflo through Patriot closed its acquisition of all the assets of Verras Medical dba Iameter. The Iameter portfolio of data analysis software and programs will be utilized to expand the current healthcare data sharing and analysis capabilities of the company. Iameter is now a Crossflo product line.
