But if they sold shares they didn't have to maintain market stability, they have to buy them back at some point. Not saying that happened, just that that sometimes accounts for them " accumullating ". As you say they are making money when the stock is trading, the higher the volume the higher the fees. If they are buying back they only make money on the one side of the sale, not both. ( until they sell it back )
