She's really "Busy Betty".
Betty P. Kelepecz has been Senior Vice President of Integrated Law Enforcement and Maritime Security Solutions of Crossflo Systems, Inc. since April 2005. Ms. Kelepecz leads efforts to deliver information-sharing solutions to the law enforcement and maritime communities. As part of this effort she focuses on the continued development of integrated solutions with systems integrators, defense contractors and Crossflo technology partners. She served as chief of police, ... San Diego Harbor Police Department. Prior to that, she spent over 23 years with the Los Angeles Police Department and in 1997 became the first female commander in its 126-year history. During her tenure as chief of Harbor Police, she was a key proponent of the Regional Information Sharing and Analysis (RISA) initiative that combined the Crossflo DataExchange(TM) platform with an intelligence analysis software from Memex, Inc. in order to share information between San Diego and Los Angeles Counties as well as other Federal agencies. As a member of the International Association of Chiefs of Police, she met with Homeland Security Undersecretary Frank Libutti in December 2004 to discuss RISA as an example of how agencies can best work together to share information. In 2003, Ms. Kelepecz joined the San Diego Harbor Police, the law enforcement authority for the San Diego Unified Port District. Recognized by numerous regional and national leadership organizations, most recently she was the recipient of the National Association of Women Law Enforcement Executives' (NAWLEE) highest award in 2004. She serves on the Homeland Security Committee and the Education and Training Committee of the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP) and is a Past President and Charter Member of NAWLEE. She is a graduate of the University of Southern California, holds a juris doctor degree from Southwestern University School of Law, and passed the California State Bar in 1990.
