Brian, it depends on what type of options they are. Certain non qualified stock options even after vesting are null and void as soon as the employee departs from the company. These probably were not those types of options and his to keep after termination of employment.

One has to wonder is he getting ready to exercise for a near big pop due to news; or he getting his ducks in row as one would when leaving a company.
