REQUEST VOREXPARTE REEXAMINATION UNDER 35 U.S.C. §§ 302-307

Dear Sir or Madam:

Pursuant to 35 U.S.C. §§ 302-307 and 37 C.F.R. § 1.510, the undersigned respectfully requests ex pane reexamination of claims 4, 6, 7, 11 and 13 of U.S. Patent No. 6,598,148 (the "'148 patent"). A copy of the '148 patent is attached as Exhibit A. The '148 patent issued on July 22, 2003 from an application filed on July 29, 1998.

The '148 patent is currently the subject of a pending ex parte reexamination proceeding (Control No. 90/008,227) that has been assigned to Examiner Joseph R. Pokrzywa. In the event the present Request is granted, it is respectfully requested that the reexaminations be merged pursuant to 37 C.F.R. 1.565(c).
