if the BOD has had no influence in the litigation, the patents, and other business decisions and dealings....then why are they being paid so much?

it is ALL about managment and their decisions. IMO the BOD has no expertise in the business model they are trying to sell to the investor. And their past decisions whether right or wrong are reflected in the stock price. Change the BOD and you immediately change the perception the investor will have on the company (IMO).
