Sure lar, no problem.
I have 2 reasons why I think AMD incorporating our tech is a longshot.
1 It makes more sense to me that AMD made an agreement with PTSC to protect itself from Intel after it heard about the TPL/Intel aghteement While that agreement validated the `336, it also left AMD vulnerable to INTC if there were an INTC/PTSC deal. I think that this is the likely scenario.
2. By some accounts on the boards, AMD and PYSC started talking 7 months ago. It takes a lot longer than that to bring a tech product to market. It also seems that the AMD engineers had not been told that they could use PTSC tech until February when the deal was announced. IMHO, the AMD deal was driven by management as a strategic move and not by the engineers. Remeber, I`m not a tech (nor do I play one on TV). So the usual discclaimers (Sedley doesn`t know what he`s talking about) apply.
Separately, on the upside, and I don`t think that this has been mentioned on the boards. A settlement consolidates control of the `336. Remember, both INTC and AMD have made investments in the validity of this patent and there are 150 other companies out there. What is the market value of closing all the lawsuits? I don`t know. We`ll see how big a rabbit JW can pill out of the hat.
Oh and if someone wants to make a bet. I say that all or a portion of those 80 million extra shares out there are part of the settlement. I bet one(1) nickel (5 pennies) Any takers?
