The new licensees include Harman International, TPV Technology, and Textron Inc., and will result in both upfront and future payments, as the increasing rates of the MMP Licensing Program has made onetime, lump-sum licenses too expensive for some companies.

These are 1-time license payments spread out in a "payment plan" type arrangement, not recurring royalties.

Also, "some companies" does not mean Textron or Harmon, necessarily. Just "some companies" which are not named, presumably much smaller ones they are going after. What it implies though is that they are now applying this "payment plan" structure to all licenses.
