No, you're not reading me correctly.
They get their half of what's distributed, and we get ours. Both entities can do whatever they want with the distributed monies. But both have an obligation to fund the licensing effort (MMP-oriented Alliacense effort). If there is a shortfall in funding, both entities should/must contribute equally.
From what I think I understand, this is exactly what has happened - Alliacense needed more funding to enable the MMP-oriented effort to continue. But TPL did not have the cash on hand to make their entire contribution, so we loaned them the necessary money - their shortfall. We helped them and, ultimately, helped ourselves at the same time. Nobody wants all the licensing effort to come to a screeching halt, layoff of Alliacense staff dedicated to MMP due to lack of funds, etc. Allowing that to happen would have been incredibly stupid.
Hope that clarifies.
I get the impression, right or wrong, that there are a bunch of licensing agreements that are waiting, contingent on the '336. Alliacense is holding out for the bigger bucks that they could rightfully demand with an unincumbered (PTO wise) '336. Think about it.... If "what I think I understand" above is correct, they could have probably overcome the funding shortfall by cutting loose a few licenses on-the-cheap. They didn't.
