Not wanting to continue OT posts, but...not 100% true. It is a little more difficult, requiring the help from the ISP, but if the authorities subpoena/obtain the server logs from the ISP, than it is very easy. Been there done that with AOL and successfully pressed charges against a US hacker. Now, if the corrupt poster is smart, he/she will proxy their IP to originate from a less US friendly country, say Russia...and than it gets much more difficult. Been there done that as well, and unless the corruption is serious enough...one would probably not proceed down this path. Have a good one.
