Kidney Ball
It's official, we're schmoozing in Bethesda. We'll be on Wisconsin Ave at the Charleston Alexander on December 16. Early bird price, $29, gets you two hours of open bar, hors d'oeuvres, and great networking. Sign up today!
We donned our tux Saturday for the National Kidney Foundation's 30th annual Kidney Ball at the Hilton Washington, featuring tons of high-powered tech execs and singer Natalie Cole, to boot.
Oh, Mr. Wilson! That's former Stanley COO George Wilson (incoming Kidney Ball chair) with IBM Global Business Services for Public Sector GM Chuck Prow and wife Angela. George tells us he's taking a little time to work on his tennis and golf after leaving Stanley following the CGI merger: "It was a little rough at first, but the execs who stayed are now doing wonderful." George has done a little consulting with friends, but nothing near violating a non-compete.
Unisys Federal Systems President Ted Davies, wife Carla, IBM Public Sector boss Anne Altman and husband Xavier Alire. Ted tells us he just returned from St. Louis, where Unisys opened an Application Modernization Center of Excellence with a ribbon cutting featuring Missouri Governor Jay Nixon. We asked if Albert Pujols came, and he said, "Nope, but Mark McGwire was surprisingly available." Ted also tells us his wife is chairing the Lupus Foundation luncheon on Dec. 11 and was the head of the auction committee for the Kidney Ball.
Natalie Cole's singing was a hair better than our karaoke. The event raised an estimated $1.1 million for kidney disease research.
Blue Canopy CEO Bradley Schwartz and Attain CEO Greg Baroni with their wives. Congratulations to Bradley and Blue Canopy, which just took home the Fairfax County Chamber Contractor of the Year Award (less than $25 million in revenue). People might also remember that Brad was one of the backers behind MySBX, which was purchased by Deltek to become its GovWin platform.
