So in Sweeney, we have someone with extensive (and apparently successful) prior experience at the CFO level and sustained success in the consulting arena.
Why would you think he`d be interested in coming to a hole in the wall company that doesn`t answer phones or open mail - Think, folks, for god`s sake, think.
All you folks fretting over mail piling up and not getting your phone calls answered - that`s small potatoes with the stuff he trying to accomplish, and reinforces the fact that right now communication with us is an annoyance and obstruction to what really needs accomplishing.
You can expect CEO`s to be on the road alot. Fact of life.
Why?...to build relationships, generate business and get a pulse for what present and future customers want and what their visions are for the years to come. Our CEO is on the road over 250 days a year. Can Pohl replicate that? probably not, his budget won`t allow that. But at least he`s busy addressing (or working through headhunters) the talent he will need to lay a strong foundation.
In finding talent, the fundamental goal is to find the best people who can represent and fit the company direction, with contributing the right skill sets. Equally important, is to find people who will represent the company well. With the limited heads, I would assume Pohl to be looking for dual-purpose people at the lower levels, so I would expect he`s just not looking for someone to answer phones and crack open mail, although I would expect that will be one of their more menial functions.
Do you want him to spend his time and capital wisely? - or do you want him at your beck and call to answer the repetitive, inane questions 75% of us have, while spending time interviewing tattoed, gum smacking twits or clerk mentality soccer moms who can only work till 2:00 and then have to leave to pick up the kids?
Back in my hole.
