Actually, that is not true re: ban of BillinAustin. No comparison.
Check the Manage Violations page. See BillinAustin's last actual post (3/17/11). I'm sure everyone who saw it remembers it. He used the Lord's name in vane - didn't even have the respect to spell "Christ" correctly. It also included multiple insults and name-calling. That post was reported, and I processed it with a warning.
Then I saw the uproar from other posters, and further considered just how offensive that post was. I admit that I don't like processing a violation, much less a ban, based on a post that mentions me. But his post, regardless of his mentioning me and others in his insults and name-calling, was so over-the-top that the ban was well deserved.
Unfortunately, I had already acted on that post with a warning (no ban), which could not be undone/altered. But I wanted to act before still more users were offended. So I did a little searching (very little - maybe five minutes) to find another post by BillinAustin that clearly violated the rules (insults and name-calling) and that had amazing not been previously reported, so I used it for the basis of the ban. Please note that the date of THAT post was 2/14/11.
I recognize there was no way you could possibly know all of the above without careful analysis of dates, and even then you wouldn't have the full picture. But was Pappy's post REALLY that insulting? And as far as contributions to the board re: PTSC, how many posts here REALLY contribute anything? 10%? Maybe?
FWIW, and setting the record staight. Do you honestly think Pappy's post was anywhere near as offensive, and to as many, as BillinAustin's post on 3/17/11? Fair to be considered "equal". Please reconsider.
To the audience: Being a HL isn't easy.
Meanwhile we violate the rules with THESE posts.....
