They are receiving royalties on the ignite product.
The problem is that they are receiving no royalties,
so far, on their Shaboom (336) product line. This
is the one they have been legitating for years.
So our lawyers decided that for all these years
of infringemnet violations they would take a one
time fee with no royalties. I suppose they did
this because they and TPL were cash hungry. By
doing so they set two precedents 1) AMD and Intel
validated that they were violating our 336 patents
2) That you can get off easy by not having to pay 336
royalties. In other words why should Fujitsu pay
any royalties for past and present 336 violations
when AMD and Intel don`t. They need to take someone
to court and come down hard on them. Then everyone else
will fall in line.
Concerning China, They don`t usually honor patents
anyway. They just steal your technology and copy it.
Lets face it, we are a cash hungry company, how are
we going to enforce patent violations on anyone.
The only way to solve that problem is to win a large
settlement which would enable us to pursue violators.
Then and only then pursue the strategy they are using
now.(I`ll give you a deal if you settle out of court )
Right now they are practically giving licenses away for
a valuable product.
