The latest awards from leading industry organizations, publications and events honor AMD`s innovation in 64-bit and dual-core computing. Now that 64-bit operating systems are available from Windows, Solaris and Linux, enterprises as well as consumers want increased processors that can take advantage of the latest software without taxing their wallet. AMD64 technology with Direct Connect Architecture can easily be upgraded to take advantage of the benefits of AMD64 dual-core processors. Windows® Vista(TM), the next-generation Windows operating system, is designed to take full advantage of key AMD innovations such as AMD64 technology, dual-core processing, Enhanced Virus Protection(a), AMD Cool`n`Quiet(TM), and AMD PowerNow!(TM) technologies.

``AMD`s approach to non-disruptive 64-bit and dual-core computing has set the standard for innovation,`` said Marty Seyer, corporate vice president, Commercial Business and Performance Computing, AMD. ``AMD64 technology offers a truly seamless migration path to the power of 64-bit technology and the performance of dual-core computing. These awards recognize the value of AMD`s innovation--that the computer industry and end users no longer have to equate technological breakthroughs with the immediate obsolescence of their valuable investments.``

Migrating to dual-core processors based on AMD64 technology can be seamless, thanks to a non-disruptive upgrade path that requires only a simple BIOS upgrade for systems that currently support AMD64 processors manufactured on 90nm technology. Dual-Core AMD Opteron and AMD Athlon 64 X2 processors can deliver higher performance within the same power envelope as single-core processors because they were designed from the ground up for multi-core computing.

The Dual-Core AMD Opteron processor was named Best of TechEd 2005 by Windows IT Pro and SQL Server Magazine. This is the second consecutive year AMD64 technology has been named overall Best of TechEd at Microsoft`s largest conference for IT professionals and developers. The Dual-Core AMD Opteron processor also picked up ``Attendee`s Pick,`` a new award category at this year`s Microsoft Tech Ed. Attendees at this year`s event evaluated and reviewed the finalists at TechEd.

InfoWorld named Fred Weber, AMD CTO, to its list of Innovators of 2005 for innovations to the AMD roadmap that comprehended the need for 64-bit computing and dual-core processors back in 1999. The magazine`s annual tribute to the people and ideas pushing technologies forward said, ``His vision is AMD`s roadmap for CPUs, and in laying out that map, Weber has proved an uncanny predictor of customers` needs.``

The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers honored AMD with the 2005 IEEE Corporate Innovation Recognition. This award recognizes the advancements AMD has made in the evolution of the x86 microprocessor and its extension to a 64-bit architecture. Established in 1985, this award recognizes contributions which resulted in major advancement in the arts and sciences of electrotechnology. Past recipients include: HP, Sun, Microsoft, NOKIA, IBM, Motorola and Apple.

Randy Allen, AMD corporate vice president of the Server Products Division, was named ``Best Engineering Executive`` and received a Stevie Award from the American Business Awards. Allen`s work in 2004 provided the technical backbone for AMD`s microprocessor roadmap. The Stevie Awards were created to honor and generate public recognition of the efforts, accomplishments, and positive contributions of companies and business people worldwide.

Network Magazine awarded AMD with their Product Breakthrough award in the 2005 Network Magazine Innovation Awards, saying, ``AMD`s elegant memory management architecture, 64-bit extensions, and superior power management were enough to convince us that its Dual-Core AMD Opteron processor is indeed a breakthrough in addressing the needs of the ever-more performance-hungry data center.``

Other recent awards include:

``Best of Show`` for the Dual-Core AMD Opteron processor at the Gartner Midsize Enterprise Summit

Best CPU Manufacturer from Computer Trade Shopper - Supplier Excellence Awards (UK)

PC World (Argentina) selected the AMD Athlon 64 4000+ processor as Best Component of 2005, recognizing its innovative AMD64 technology, high performance and AMD`s focus on products that meet end users` needs.

HW Zone (Israel) named the AMD Athlon 64 processor ``CPU of the Year`` for 2004.
