Thank you for your response and for providing a detailed explanation. The reason your avatar might have disappeared and be replaced by one of our default avatars is quite simple and much more innocent than any "hack".

Pursuant to prior notifications over the past 2-3 weeks, we moved the site away from our current host Amazon (Yes, THE Amazon) due to unsatisfactory downtime issues we have experienced with Amazon over the last month.

In doing so the URL that was given to your avatar may have changed, subsequently leading to the generic replacement of your avatar with one of our presets.

Though no other member has come forward with a similar message, we believe that the server migration is the most reasonable explanation which may have caused the change of avatar.
