The Markman hearing was held at the end of January. We are now awaiting the results of the Markman hearing. There is no special master phase. The special master is presiding over the majority of motions that arise as both parties have agreed to allow a special master dictate the "legal tempo" by which the parties will operate. For example, the special master advised Judge Ware on the motion to strike TPL's ICs where Barco was the moving party.

The special master is focused on this case and is advising the court to make rulings while Judge Ware is focused on many cases at once. The special master allows for the case to move forward more efficiently by focusing on each motion, and allowing Judge Ware to confirm the special masters proposed rulings. Essentially the special master is doing all of the leg work, which frees Judge Ware to focus on the more important issues.
