Cuomo said about 10 days ago he met with Wilpon and Katz and "simply made the pitch, 'This is your last chance.'

"The principal force was proximity to the trial. As the parties got closer to trial, they got closer to the realities of trial. Number one, they may lose. Number two, 2 they may win and then face an appeal. Number three, in either case it's going to cost a fortune."
