Who has read the agreement between Apple and the entity that sold the license? DL for one, and the people at Apple is what I have to assume. I know I did not. Why has that license aggreement been such a secret? At the SHM we practically had to corner DL and the board and extract a "confession" which really even still was not an admission. There was talk about confidentiallity etc. But most there came away with the conclusion that Apple had "bought a license", what ever that meant or means.
Who knows what that purchase entailed? Maybe it was for $1.00 and nothing more. But most likely it was something more. Just what that "more" is only a few know about, including what ever the "details" were.
A few here have been talking about how smart it would be for companies to work together and buy the patents by way of buying the stock.
I have believed that has been going on for sometime. Ever since that video SHM and all that preceeded it ( moving the office with out informing the shareholders ).
Do you really think that if these patents are really that valuable the companies envolved have been just sitting around trying to battle this soley on a legal battlefield? I would say not. They have been buying the stock, just in case. I mean what led you to buy the stock? What led any of us to buy the stock? What keeps any of us in the game by not selling? What makes you think they were not motivated for the same reasons or for even greater reasons based on knowledge that you or other shareholders were not privy to? I mean they have an advantage of being the ones legally involved and having access to many legal documents and strategies. They have money and power.
I am just saying it is a "speculation" with some merit that Apple or another company or a group of companies could or have been accumulating the stock with the anticipation of buying out PTSC or at least getting a piece of the pie when dividends are declared.
And here is a thought for DL among others:
Sharing the pie is a wiser move than keeping the pie for yourself and then have others who are hungry take it from you, leaving you with nothing.
