"Apple is currently heavily into the use of intel chips in their mac and other products. This could be a reason for the lack of a big settlement. On the other hand they puchased and now own Intrinsity. That chip either an a4 or a spinoff designed by Samsung and is a specialty designed arm chip that apple produces in that texas facility."
Agreed. The Apple situation is pretty complex especially given the lack of information from PTSC/TPL regarding what is covered by the alleged license/settlement and what is not.
Even if Intel is covered, what of Motorola, PowerPC and ARM type CPU integration?
While the value of the Apple deal, if there is one, can remain confidential for business reasons, I see little reason why the Apple license/settlement scope needs to be withheld. It is a critical factor in assessing the value of PTSC, especially if it covers only a part of Apple's product lines.
