What appears worthless to some may actually leave others with pockets full of money.

In some cases both the M&A buyers and sellers smile a lot, while stockholders frown and wonder what happened. What happens over the negotiating table may be only half of the picture.

Then again, some M&A acquisitions go bad simply because of incompetence. Which is worse?
